Two equipment rental powerhouses join forces in Ostrobothnia

Equipment rental company Ramirent has acquired WasaTrade. This will strengthen Ramirent’s operations in Ostrobothnia and the Helsinki metropolitan area.

Ramirent Finland Oy has acquired the Vaasa-based WasaTrade Oy from its current owners. WasaTrade is a construction equipment rental company, and their range features small construction equipment, power&heating equipment and construction hoists in particular.

WasaTrade has rental outlets in Vaasa, Närpiö and Helsinki. The company’s entire staff will transfer to Ramirent, with WasaTrade continuing operations as Ramirent subsidiary.

“There is a lot of buzz in Ostrobothnia: vast amounts of wind power is being built in the area, and, in addition, mining and battery chemical company investments are planned for Vaasa and Kokkola. WasaTrade is a very strong operator in construction and wind power projects, meaning that acquiring the company will strengthen our business in Ostrobothnia and especially in the Vaasa economic area. Furthermore, WasaTrade’s hoist business will significantly increase our capacity in the Helsinki metropolitan area,” Ramirent Finland Oy CEO Mikael Kämpe says happily.

For his part, WasaTrade’s CEO Jukka Korpitie comments: “Ramirent’s broad equipment range and national outlet network provide us with the opportunity to serve our customers better than before in their projects around Finland. Additionally, the acquisition makes it possible to produce services for even bigger projects than before. This will play a great role in the counties of Ostrobothnia when the planned wind power, mining and battery chemical companies’ projects move into the implementation phase.” With the acquisition, Korpitie will become an employee of Ramirent.
